Cheese, Chateaus and Champs

Last Friday we decided to finally go out in Geneva. Unfortunately, we programmed a tad too hard. We each had about a bottle or more of this white wine that taste like water (but is conveniently 11% alcohol). Speaking of pregamming, we've learned that the police are present, but may as well not be there. While we were walking from the pre-game castle, we would frequently find our selves in plumes of smoke and 15 year olds pouring jungle juice openly on the streets. At the Nyon (my town) train station, there's a 13 year old who walks around the station finding customers looking for goods. Dealers make this "chh" noise when they walk past you to see if you're interested, it's quite the system. Clearly, people start everything very young over here. Anyway, we met up Caroline and Amar in Geneva and went to this really cool chain called Brasseurs. They only serve beer this that they brew. Better yet, they serve it in these 5 liter, what can only be described as, beer bongs. The beer was delicious... too bad I don't remember much after :(

At 9am the next morning, we all took at trip to Gruyeres (famous for their cheese). We had some really great fondue and a really cool dessert called creme. Creme is basically a really think, sugarless, cream that you put on top of fruits and meringues. It was really good. The town is also home to the Alien museum (yes, the movie). I didn't go inside, but it looked cool.... Thierry told me afterward that the museum is super trippy, I feel like he would know too. Speaking of trippy - on the way to Gruyeres the train stopped at Gland, there was a guy who was banging his on a telephone pole and yelling, clearly, having a super bad trip, I couldn't really tell what he was saying, something about banisters banisters banisters....

The next morning we went to Montreux. On the way there, we had to stop at Lausanne (party city of Switzerland), some super drunk guy got on our train with a Heini-can in his hand (still not really sure about the open container thing here). Oh yea, it was also 11 am, what a champ. Montreux is by far one of the nicest places I've been to since I've gotten here. The weather was great. There's an awesome castle there, although it would have been a tad more awesome had it not been a 2 mile walk from the train station. Luckily, there was a Madagascar 2 exhibit along the trail. It was a bunch of different characters from the movie made out of fauna, it was pretty cool. We heard there was a Mexican restaurant in the city (so far we've only heard of 2 Mexi-raunts in the entire country). Clearly, I made it a top priority to find this place for lunch. After super power walking, we arrived and it was.... closed, fail. I still have a taco crave -.-

Well, after that trip we decided to rest, because it was Superbowl Sunday. We found a bar that was playing it live (yes, 12am -4:40am). We walked in and everyone was staring at us. We thought it was because we were American (since we get stared at all time time), but it turned out it was a private party...we stayed anyway. Swiss football fans are quite interesting, there was only one super drunk guy and, sadly, no Tyrones in Switzerland. By the final quarter the guy behind the bar was giving us free food and drinks. One of the best things were these fresh baked crissonts filled with ham and cheese... delicious. Oh... go Saints?

OH, how could I forget?!?!??! one of the coolest things I saw that weekend were the toilets! Some of the bathrooms here have self cleaning toilet seats! I made sure to take a video for your viewing pleasure. Unfortunately, while I was in the stall, an older man went into the stall next to me and had the nastiest defecation I've ever heard, actually, it was pretty similar to the scene in Dumb and Dumber where Jeff Daniels goes in the Swanson's broken toilet. Needless to say, my video may be a little shaky due to the uncomfortable atmosphere...Enjoy!
